I was thinking of taking a short absence from my blog, however, it’s simply getting stretched out due to any reason or other and I’m just eager to write something and thought of sharing a tiny study I’ve done about Cheese Producers in India.

There is a myriad of types and brands of cheese that are available in the Indian Market, but in this article, we’ll be discussing our local Indian dairy farmers/producers who have taken cheese making to a new stage in India.

So, here is the list. I’ve attempted to record the details to my best knowledge. If you have any additional information on the list, do let me know your suggestions in the comment section below.

1. AMUL

Who doesn’t know about this brand? So surely it should be on the top of our list.

VARIETY OF CHEESE BY THE BRAND:-

Amul produces a broad range of cheeses. However, these can be classified into five principal categories. These are:

  • Processed Cheese: It is processed Cheddar Cheese that is made of Graded cow/buffalo milk, Sodium Citrate, Common Salt, Citric Acid, permitted natural color Annatto. Emulsifiers and Class II preservatives. It is accessible as Blocks, Tins, Slices, and Chiplets in various sizes.
  • Emmental Cheese: Emmental Cheese is made of soft Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, and Common Salt. It’s available in a 400 g package for retail, and 5.5 Kg for the institution segment.

  • Gouda Cheese is a lightly matured cheese that is of the Dutch variety and is yellow in appearance as it’s produced by cow’s milk. It is characterized by its delicate, mildly fruity flavor and sweet taste. It is available in a 500g pack for retail, and in a 1kg pack for the commercial sector.

  • Cheese Spread: It’s composed of soft Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, and Common Salt. It is available in nine flavors and a pack of 200g.

  • Pizza Mozzarella Cheese Pizza Mozzarella Cheese is made of Milk, Common Salt, 100 percent Vegetarian coagulating enzymes. Available in a 1-kg pack 200g, and 200g packs. Also available is Amul Shredded Cheese 1kg pack for the Institutional Segment.

2. BRITANNIA

It was founded as a Biscuit business that was founded by Kolkatta in 1892, the company has come quite a way since then. Today the offerings of the company are spread across the entire spectrum of products that range from nutritious and affordable Tiger biscuits to more active Milkman Cheese.

VARIETY OF CHEESE BY THE BRAND:-

Britannia provides a wide range of cheeses from India that is made of cow’s milk. The whole variety of Britannia Cheese comes in different forms, sizes, and tastes, and can be utilized in a variety of recipes. This type of rage can be classified into eight types:

  • Blocks: This is the classic cheddar cheese processed and is available in sizes of 200gm and 400gms as well in Tin.

  • Cubes: This is the same cheddar cheese that’s processed that is packaged in fresh packaging and easily tearable tape with two sizes available 180g and 540g.

  • Cheese Slices The company claims to be as good as a glass of cow’s milk. It is available in sizes of 100g 200g, 480g, and 200g as well As Pepper as in packs of 100g.

  • Britannia natural Cheddar cheese A classic cheese with a global flavor It is available in a pack size of 200g.

  • Cream Cheese Cream Cheese is an exuberant and exotic kind of cheese Cream Cheese. It’s soft, thick smooth, and creamy. It is more spreadable than regular cheese spreads and is smoother and creamier in texture mild, tangy flavor. It comes in packs of 180g.

3. GOVARDHAN

A.B.C. Farms Pvt. Ltd. is one of the Pune (Maharashtra) located Dairy and Hospitality businesses started in 1976 by the Aga’s Chinoy’s and Bhathena’s (hence their A.B.C. as the company’s name) However, it is now is owned and operated by Sohrab Chinoy, his family, and friends.

It’s not only restricted to producing different varieties of cheese. However, it is known for its multi-cuisine restaurants on The Koregaon Park property in Pune. It’s also a renowned retailer of milk.

8. La Ferme Cheese

It was established in 1988 in Auroville close to Pondicherry using the traditional methods of making cheese in the context-specific to the South Indian climate, taking into consideration Western hygiene standards and the need to ensure a healthy and sustainable ecological balance. Today, the company produces approximately 100 kilograms of cheeses made by hand with more than ten varieties per day.
